This 1968 Mustang Fastback is a factory R-Code 428ci Cobra Jet, a highly desirable and documented example, retaining its matching numbers engine. The car underwent a complete frame-off restoration in 2016, addressing all mechanical, cosmetic, and structural aspects to a high standard, with a strong focus on originality and factory correctness.
In 2025, the paint was redone to further enhance the car’s presentation, bringing it to its current showroom-quality condition. The vehicle has since been fully inspected, professionally detailed, and road tested to ensure it performs exactly as it should.
 
 
The car is finished in its original factory color, Tahoe Turquoise. Following its full restoration in 2016, the paint was professionally redone in 2025, resulting in an exceptional finish with no scratches, dents, or imperfections.
The body is completely free of rust or bondo. The quarter panels and trunk drop-offs were professionally replaced during the restoration. The undercarriage is in perfect condition and has been refinished in body color, reflecting the attention to detail throughout the build.
Panel gaps are tight and consistent all around, noticeably better than factory standards. The car retains its original Ram Air hood, original grille with fog lights (GT package), and factory C-stripes. All chrome bumpers and brightwork are in excellent condition, while the original aluminum trims remain in very good shape. All rubbers and seals are new.
 
The interior features a factory Aqua Standard interior, presented in immaculate condition. The headliner, seat covers and foam, carpet, and door panels are all new.
The car retains an original center console, original steering wheel, and original dash pad, all in excellent condition. The factory AM radio is still in place and functional. All gauges operate properly.
 
Under the hood sits the matching numbers 428ci Cobra Jet (335hp / 440 lb-ft), rebuilt in 2016 to factory specifications.
Block date code: 8B3, fully consistent with the car’s build date.
The engine retains its original Holley 4150 735 CFM 4-barrel carburetor, original intake, original Ram Air system, and even the original smog pump, a rare and desirable detail. The engine runs strong, smooth, and exactly as a Cobra Jet should.
Power is sent through a C6 automatic transmission with all-aluminum casing, also rebuilt in 2016, paired with a 9-inch rear axle with 3.50 gears. The drivetrain is tight, responsive, and leak-free.
 
 
 
This Mustang is equipped with power steering and heavy-duty suspension (GT package). All bushings, ball joints, and tie rods are new and tight, providing excellent road manners and confident handling.
The braking system consists of power front disc brakes and rear drum brakes, delivering reliable and consistent stopping power.
 
 
 
The car rides on 15-inch reproduction GT wheels, wrapped in new BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires:
